ANNEX A: PSP KINGSTON DRESS POLICY
Introduction
A. PSP Kingston operates within a highly visible, customer-service oriented working atmosphere. As such it is important that PSP Kingston personnel maintain a professional uniform standard of dress that distinguishes PSP Kingston personnel from other service providers. There are two distinct groups within PSP Kingston, each of which requires specific standards of dress. These groups are:
Universal PSP Kingston Dress Requirements
B. Regardless of which group a person belongs to, the following dress requirements are applicable to all PSP Kingston personnel:
Fitness and Sports Staff
The dress standard for Fitness and Sports staff is explained in Annex B. Where there is a conflict between Annex B and this SOP, the direction within this SOP shall take precedence.
Non-Office (Operational) Staff
Non-office staff such as mechanics, maintenance personnel, arena staff, etc. will follow the dress standard directed by their respective managers and shall comply with all safety dress requirements that apply to their jobs.
Administrative Staff
C. “Business casual” is the dress standard for PSP Kingston staff working in an office setting and/or involved with direct customer service.
The following are examples of articles of clothing which are deemed acceptable business dress:
The following are examples of clothing which would not be considered appropriate dress for work:
Head Dress
Head dress other than PSP Kingston ball caps or toques [for certain occupations] are not part of the authorized dress or uniform. Wearing of religious headdress is exempted from this direction.
Jeans Friday
This dress policy allows PSP Kingston personnel to come to work each Friday in casual dress [Jeans]. Staff may participate in casual Friday's by contributing to the National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign in support of the United Way. Staff can contact boudreau.shane@cfmws.com for instructions on how to get involved. Clothing must be up to standards as identified in this guide.

- Mandatory uniform, i.e. the uniform is provided by the employer;
- Volunteer uniform, i.e. those for which a uniform is not provided, but who wish to wear PSP Kingston clothing.
Universal PSP Kingston Dress Requirements
B. Regardless of which group a person belongs to, the following dress requirements are applicable to all PSP Kingston personnel:
- PSP Kingston name tags must be worn at all times unless safety regulations require otherwise. Name tags shall be worn on the left side [when looking at the individual] at chest level;
- Wearing of PSP Kingston clothing is encouraged and is mandatory when it is provided. PSP Kingston clothing can be ordered from identified sources. Ask supervisor;
- PSP Kingston uniforms with logos other than the official logo [as identified in this SOP] shall not be worn.
Fitness and Sports Staff
The dress standard for Fitness and Sports staff is explained in Annex B. Where there is a conflict between Annex B and this SOP, the direction within this SOP shall take precedence.

- Slacks - cotton / polyester dress pants;
- Dress shorts for warm weather only (no shorter than three inches above the knee);
- Shirts – casual shirts with collars, banded collars, golf shirts and light weight summer sweaters. Shirts are to be worn tucked in the pants where applicable (managers’ discretion). Ties are optional. Business casual collarless shirts for women are permissible;
- Dresses and skirts – so long as they are acceptable in a professional setting (must be no shorter than two inches above the knee).
- The only accepted footwear to be worn in an office setting is dress shoes (sneakers for certain occupations) with sock. Women may wear open-toe or open heel dress shoes without socks if they wish.
The following are examples of clothing which would not be considered appropriate dress for work:
- Midriff tops, muscle shirts, halter/tube/crop tops; shirts with potentially offensive words, terms, logos, pictures, cartoons, or slogans; halter-tops; tops with bare shoulders; and sweatshirts;
- Strapless dresses;
- Sweatpants, exercise pants, Bermuda shorts, short shorts, overalls, leggings, and any spandex or other form-fitting pants such as people wear for biking or yoga;
- No jeans; the only exception is outlined below under “Casual Friday”;
- Toe-slippers, flip-flops, Crocs; and
- Beach wear

ANNEX B: PSP KINGSTON FITNESS AND SPORTS DRESS POLICY
Purpose
This policy sets our requirements for dress and deportment since good grooming and personal appearance are essential elements in providing quality service to members of the Canadian Forces and their families. This is particularly so given our client’s military dress requirements and established protocol.
Policy
A. Employees are expected to wear clothing that is neat, clean and safe; consistent with the responsibilities of their position as well as projecting a favourable image.
B. The standard uniform will be worn by all designated personnel as identified in the Dress and Deportment /CFMWS Uniform Policy.
C. The CFB Kingston PSP Brand Identity Guide (BIG) will be adhered to for all PSP identified clothing.
D. Fitness Staff instructing classes’ will ensure the current Fitness standard uniform is met. Once classes are completed the Fitness Staff may follow the standard uniform policy.
E. All Administrative staff and Customer Service staff will dress in business casual with a PSP Collared Shirt. Business casual offers an alternative to the formality of the typical office attire for men and women. It is less formal than regular business attire, but more professional than casual Friday attire. On occasion when not in the normal work place and with approval of the supervisor, staff may choose not to wear the PSP Shirt.
F. Arena, Field, Maintenance, and Stores Staff will wear work pants or jeans with a PSP tee shirt or PSP collared shirt. Safety boots and eyewear are required with use of mechanical equipment.
G. If an employee is uncertain that a type of clothing is appropriate, he/she should speak with his/her manager or supervisor.
H. All Managers and Supervisors are responsible for ensuring these guidelines are maintained and enforced within their work unit. Staff will be expected to comply.
I. Clothing should be neat, fit correctly, be in good repair, and not bear offensive slogans, pictures or logos.
J. Clothing deemed by the employer to be revealing shall not be worn in the workplace [i.e. low cut tops, short cut shorts or pants with holes].
K. Appropriate footwear shall be worn - loafers, flats, dress shoes and leather deck shoes are acceptable. Socks or no socks/stockings are acceptable. Where deemed necessary by the employer, safety footwear must be worn.
L. All PSP staff will wear name tags as directed in the "Name Tag" section.
M. Jewelry is to be conservative.
N. Hair is to be kept neat.

R. Fitness Department Staff are allocated a clothing grant as per national guidelines for centrally funded Fitness Staff. The total amount identified for centrally funded staff will be allocated to base funded Fitness Staff.
S. All non-fitness staff will be allocated $80 per year to purchase PSP Kingston Clothing. Specialty clothing orders above this allotment may be authorized.
