Health Promotion: Inter-Comm
Would you like to get better customer service? Do you want to get your message across briefly and effectively? Are you tired of not being heard? Would you like to have a meaningful conversation with your teenager? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Inter-Comm is for you. Inter-Comm is a new course for anyone who wants to improve their communication skills. The course looks at barriers to communication and provides practical, proven methods to overcome these barriers and create a respectful environment. This course is offered in two formats, "For Two" and "For You".
Desired Learning Outcome: Through experience learning, exercises and coaching, participants will learn skills in conflict management, effective communication and how to nurture collaboration both at home and in the community.
Delivery type: Classroom    Time commitment: 12 Hours    Prerequisites: None
Course required for: All CAT 2, F/T CAT 1 in Supervisory Roles or in Customer Service Roles Optional for: All Others

Health Promotion: Managing Angry Moments (MAM)
MAM is an interactive program designed to help increase personal performance by identifying successful coping strategies that participants already use in anger–generating situations and by providing opportunities to learn and practice new skills. Discussions focus on understanding anger; identifying personal triggers; managing conflict with others; identifying and practicing strategies that work for you, and learning how to manage your response for the long-term.
Desired Learning Outcome: Provide staff with coping strategies

Health Promotion: Mental Fitness & Suicide Awareness (MFSA)
The purpose of MFSA is to prepare personnel in leadership positions to promote mental fitness and to lessen the incidence of mental health injuries including deliberate self-harm and suicide within the military community. Although this is a supervisor course, course is open and appropriate for all ranks, families and NPF/DND Civilian Employees. Suggested recertification every 2 years.
Desired Learning Outcome: Participants who complete the MFSA training will:
- understand barriers to seeking help
- learn about the stigma attached to mental health issues
- practice effective communication
- learn how to use the ACE Model
- learn how to build their resiliency quotient
- increase their confidence as a leader

Health Promotion: Stress Take Charge! (STC)
This interactive program offers an effective, skills-based approach to managing stress. Through self-awareness, behaviour change and skill building, participants will examine stress within a military context, and learn about the stress response. Various relaxation and stress management techniques and strategies will be explored and practised.
Desired Learning Outcome: Participants will:
- Understand the stress reaction in the military context. 
- Choose and practice specific skills that they will use to decrease stress and build resilience 
- Benefit from regular practice of the relaxation response.

Microsoft Excel Basic
Learn the basic functions and features of Excel 2010. After an introduction to spreadsheet terminology and Excel's window components, students will learn how to use the Help system and navigate worksheets and workbooks. Then they will enter and edit text, values, formulas, and pictures, and they will save workbooks in various formats. Students will also move and copy data, learn about absolute and relative references, and work with ranges, rows, and columns. This course also covers simple functions, basic formatting techniques, and printing. Finally, students will create and modify charts, and learn how to manage large workbooks.
Desired Learning Outcome: Improve working knowledge of Excel.

Microsoft Word Basic 
This course covers the basic functions and features of Word 2010. After an introduction to Word's window components, students will learn how to use the Help system and navigate documents. Then they will enter and edit text, create and save documents, and learn how to enhance the appearance of a document by using various formatting options. They will also create tables, insert headers and footers, proof and print documents, and insert graphics.
Desired Learning Outcome: Improve working knowledge of Word.
