CAF 101 for Civilians
Canadian Armed Forces’ operational environments, chain of command, its roles and history:
- Canadian Armed Forces’ Military Ethos and Ethics 
- Characteristics of military members such as ranks, uniforms, and honours 
- Command driven environment, the rank structure, and the profession of arms 
- Military career process: recruitment, Terms of Service, training, education and occupations 
- Military life and how it differs from civilian life
Desired Learning Outcome: The purpose of this online course is to provide civilian employees with a basic knowledge of military culture and environment so that they are better equipped to support military operations. The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is a large and complex organization and this course aims to provide a glimpse into the organization. By acquiring basic knowledge about the Canadian Armed Forces' culture and environment, civilian employees will have a better understanding of the organization and its military members.

Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+)

Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) is an analytical process used to assess how diverse groups of women, men and non-binary people may experience policies, programs and initiatives. The "plus" in GBA+ acknowledges that GBA+ goes beyond biological (sex) and socio-cultural (gender) differences. We all have multiple identity factors that intersect to make us who we are; GBA+ also considers many other identity factors, like race, ethnicity, religion, age, and mental or physical disability.
 
Desired learning Outcome:  The purpose of this course is to provide employees with the following basic knowledge:
  • Define the key concepts of GBA+,
  • Recognize how various identity factors can influence the experience of federal government initiatives,
  • Identify how GBA+ can enhance the responsiveness, effectiveness and outcomes of federal government initiatives, and
  • Apply some foundational GBA+ concepts and processes including unconscious bias.

Military Family Experience
The Military Family Experience course, available on the Defence Learning Network (DLN), is designed for Military Family Services and Personnel Support Programs staff who are directly or indirectly delivering programs to the military family community. It will be an excellent tool to assist in the orientation of new staff to the organization.

Standard First Aid with CPR C + AED
Standard First Aid satisfies WSIB and Canada Labour Code requirements for most workplaces with more than 5 employees. CPR C includes CPR techniques for adults, infants, children, choking and use of barrier devices. Also includes Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training.
Desired Learning Outcome: Have the knowledge and skills to react pro-actively to a life-threatening situation.

Standard First Aid with CPR C + AED - Renewal
A one day renewal course for persons holding a valid Standard First Aid with Level C CPR certificates who want to renew before it expires. Renewal of a certificate is permissible on a once only basis and must be alternated with attendance on a full course.
Desired Learning Outcome: Have the knowledge and skills to react pro-actively to a life-threatening situation.

WHMIS - Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
All Employees including Managers and Supervisors hired after May 1 2015
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a Canada-wide system designed to give employers and workers information about hazardous materials used in the workplace. With the latest changes, WHMIS is in a period of transition between two hazard communication regimes: WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015.
This course familiarizes participants with WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015. Therefore, it includes the elements of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). Participants will learn about the WHMIS symbols and their meaning, the labels on products, and material safety data sheets (MSDSs/SDSs).​
The course has a test at the end of the module and requires 75% for successful completion.
Desired Learning Outcome: Knowledge to identify potential risks from chemicals.
