This workshop will focus on how to organize a major event, including project management, lay-out design, resource management as well as financial management.

Financial Business Planning
This course introduces managers and supervisors to the basic principles of Non Public Fund finances, financial statements and their roles and responsibilities as NPF managers/supervisors. The participants will also gain an understanding of the business planning process (including budgeting) as it pertains to NPF business lines.

It is important to incorporate environmental performance considerations into procurement decisions. This online course introduces the federal government's Policy on Green Procurement and provides detailed strategies and tools for applying its principles throughout the procurement process. Participants will explore the reasons for buying green, identify the major eco-labels. Topics include:

High Five® - Principles of Healthy Child Development
HIGH FIVE® is Canada's quality standard for children's recreation and sport. This innovative approach will enhance program quality and provide positive experiences for children of all ages.
Desired Learning Outcome: To ensure all children who participate in recreational play, develop physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively by providing recreation and sport programs that provide activities and environments where children feel safe, welcome, competent, connected, empowered and special.

High Five® - Quest 2
Prerequisite - High Five® - Principles of Healthy Child Development

This one-day training helps supervisors improve risk management in children’s programs by learning how to measure quality with the HIGH FIVE® scientifically validated QUEST 2 Tool. Supervisors will use the QUEST 2 Tool and learn how to enter their data into the HIGH FIVE® Database to track their progress as well as identify areas of need. They will also learn how to debrief the results of the assessments with staff in a positive way.
Desired Learning Outcome: This one-day training helps supervisors improve risk management in children’s programs by learning how to measure quality with the HIGH FIVE® scientifically validated QUEST 2 Tool. Supervisors will use the QUEST 2 Tool and learn how to enter their data into the HIGH FIVE® Database to track their organization’s progress as well as identify areas of need. Marketing 101
Marketing 101 workshop to familiarize PSP Kingston employees on common practices and considerations when creating activities, programs and events. Topics to include:
- Introduction to marketing processes, activities and considerations and their role in achieving organizational objectives.
- Introduction to integrating marketing communications related to promotional mix, consumer behaviour, and other approaches to capture the attention of intended target markets.
- Introduction to market segmentation strategies.
- Key advertising techniques such as simplicity, catchy slogans, short copy, etc.  Importance of branding.
- Overview of digital marketing strategies that identify target audience behaviour and effectively reach these markets such as web search optimization, mobile communication, web site design, and social media.
- Introduction to social media tools and techniques to connect with consumers.
Desired Learning Outcome: Participants will demonstrate their learning by creating a marketing plan that outlines one or more strategies to promote/sell their section-specific programs and services (one or more).

Microsoft Excel Intermediate
Prerequisite - Microsoft Excel Basic
This course builds on the skills and concepts taught in Excel 2010: Basic. Learn how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently, and start working with more advanced formatting options including styles, themes, and backgrounds. Learn how to create outlines and subtotals, how to create and apply cell names, and how to work with tables. Save workbooks as Web pages, insert and edit hyperlinks, and learn to share workbooks by email. This course also covers advanced charting techniques, use of trendlines and sparklines, worksheet auditing and protection, file sharing and merging, and workbook templates. Finally, students will learn to work with PivotTables and PivotCharts.
Desired Learning Outcome: Improve working knowledge of Excel.

This course builds on the skills and concepts taught in Outlook: Basic. Students will learn how to add visual impact using albums, tables, charts, smart art, customized animation and audio/visual effects.

Microsoft Powerpoint Basics
This course teaches students the fundamentals of this application and its usage within the Windows environment. Students learn to create, modify, and deliver electronic presentations.  They learn to create slides containing text, tables, charts, diagrams, and graphics. Students practice customizing slides and finalizing presentations, and then learn to print and deliver slide shows.

This course builds on the skills and concepts taught in Word 2010: Basic, First Look Edition. They will also use document templates, manage document revisions, and work with Web features.

NPP Financial Delegated Authorities and Contracting Certification
Provides individuals with the essential knowledge to discharge their NPP signing authority responsibilities. It is a mandatory certification pre-requisite for any individual who by virtue of his / her job description needs NPP Delegated signing authority and who is not mandated to complete the "Fundamentals of NPP Certification”.
Desired Learning Outcome: NPP signing authority and to ensure that all who are entrusted with the management of NPP are provided with the training required to effectively discharge their responsibilities.

PSP Policy Suite
This course will highlight and discuss the practical and daily work application of the PSP/NPF policies in place. Emphasis is not on knowing the complete policies in place but rather to quickly locate the ones that apply to the issue at hand and how they apply to your daily working lives as guiding documents. You will be required to complete some case studies in a group setting.

Speechcraft: An Opportunity to Succeed
Speechcraft is a workshop for anyone wanting to develop or brush up on their public speaking skills. In six short, relaxed classroom sessions, participants will gain confidence in all aspects of communication, including written and impromptu speaking, body language and listening. Persons participating in Speechcraft will further develop and/or learn communication skills through practice and studying the materials provided. Speechcraft will improve performance in: conducting and participating in business meetings; motivating people; interviewing for jobs; selling ideas or products; and solving problems.
Desired Learning Outcome: The skills gained through Speechcraft will benefit you at home and at work. Every conversation will be more relaxed, productive, and enjoyable. You will be able to communicate better with your family, employer, associates, subordinates, and customers.
